Year 2003: The adventures of the Berreth’s family in USA
Gigi graduated from University of Washington. She received her Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and the focus of her studies was finance. 3 weeks after her last final, she changed her OB doctor and gave birth to Daniela.
March 31st Gigi
delivered Daniela at Overlake Hospital at 6:20 am. Gigi was proud to have a
natural birth without any drugs. After delivering the baby she was feeling
really well and very happy. It was a joyful experience. Mother, Father and
baby were fine. Frank was very helpful: he stayed with Gigi all the time. He
drove her to the hospital, called Ruth to come over and went for walks while Gigi
was having contractions. He also made sure nobody would harm the baby or the
mother.
Ruth, Gigi’s sister, provided all the emotional support we needed. She was our Dula, sister, friend and advocate during all the time and her help was inestimable. Ruth is also a great mother and her experience raising children is very valuable so anytime we have a question, just guess: who do we call?
April 25th, Rachel, Gigi’s sister, got married. We were able to attend the wedding ceremony and part of the reception. Daniela behaved really well.
During the summer we met
Amber, Wess and Jacob; great family. They are very uplifting people and we
enjoyed doing some activities with them. They came from Arizona for an internship at
Microsoft and we hope they come back next year.
4th of July we went
to Oregon Coast. We basically had to stop
driving every 2 hours to feed Daniela, to change her diaper or whatever. When
she finally slept we were able to drive much more. Once we got there, the beach
was really nice. We also liked the little shopping area with all those stores
for tourists. Daniela got very scared with the fire works used to celebrate 4th
of July. We stayed in the bedroom all the time and all that she wanted was to
feel secure in arms of her mothers, so Gigi was holding her all the time.
August 13th we went to Germany. Daniela met for the first time her German family: great grandmother, grand parents, uncles, aunts and great uncle and aunt. Yah! Yah! She did really well in the airplane sleeping most of the time. In Germany, Daniela stayed awake most of the time during the night and she slept from 7:00 am to 2:00 or 4:00 pm but we managed to visit everyone and it worked just fine.
September 18th Frank’s father passed away. Our sincere feelings to everyone.
October 31st we
bought our home sweet home. Yes, this is true! It is a light 2-story house in a
quiet cul de sac close to Microsoft, highway 520 and shopping area, with
walking distance to Grass Lawn Park and in a good school
district. Location! Location! Location! No, this is not an advertisement
selling the house but after all hunting we finally found a house that we both
really like and we are very happy about it.
November: We are organizing our new home and learning to become handy.
December: It is already December and we wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
